North County LifeLine Earns National Certification From Points of Light

Vista, CA – “I’m a fan of our volunteers, says, Donald Stump, Executive Director for North County Lifeline. They give so much − we believe it is our duty to be good stewards of their time. The Service Enterprise Certification bolsters our confidence that we are providing the most fulfilling and worthwhile experience for them.” Volunteers will celebrate this certification on Tuesday, April 14, from 12:00 to 1:30, at Lifeline’s Vista campus at 200 Michigan Avenue.

As defined by the Points of Light, this certification recognizes organizations, which leverage volunteers and achieve an effective volunteer management model. Volunteer Coordinator, Melissa Alcazar, refers to volunteers as the pillar of North County Lifeline. “We work to foster a meaningful work environment just as we do for employees. Volunteers receive structured training, mentoring and evaluations. They are encouraged to evaluate us as well,” added Alcazar.

According to the Points of Light, less than 15% of organization nationwide can be characterized as Service Enterprises. With North County Lifeline newly certified, San Diego County now has a total of twelve organizations with this distinction.

North County Lifeline’s mission is to build self-reliance among youth, individuals and families through problem solving, skill building and accessible community-based services. Founded in 1969 to support troubled youth, Lifeline now works with 24,807 people annually from Carlsbad to Escondido to Bonsall, in Southern California.
